Parents of Developmentally Delayed Children

Is it being suggested by your child’s teachers that he may be Developmentally Delayed or might have a Personality Disorder? Are you struggling with seeing your child through the teachers’ eyes? Or, are you rejecting their suggestions altogether, and you are highly offended by their theory concerning your child?

Love vs Hate

“We often mistakenly believe that the opposite of love is hate. But I believe that is incorrect. The opposite of loving others is being self-centered. If your focus is always on yourself, you will never be able to build positive relationships.”

The Fellowship of the Saints

Defining Fellowship:

Koinonia’ (Greek term in Acts 2:42, et al.), translated as:

  • fellowship, relationship, association, community, communion, joint participation.
  • The beneficial outcome of relational interaction with others.

Our fellowship with the saints (the followers of Christ, also called the Church) is a powerful and integral part of our being healed, renewed, and discipled in our life of faith in Christ. Fellowship, our interaction with other people through relationships is so important that 6 out of the Ten Commandments deals directly with our relations with other people (the other 4 out of the Ten Commandments deals with our fellowship with God Himself).

Excellence in Our Service Unto God

Defining Excellence:

“the quality of being outstanding or extremely good.”

We serve the King and the Creator of all Space and Time. He designed and created the functioning laws of matter, gravity, magnetism, and light. He designed and created the highly complex and intricately interwoven human body, both male and female. He breathed into us His breath of eternal life, and gave to us the ability and desire to procreate and fill His creation with human beings that are created in both His image (as Creator-God) and in our image (as Procreator-Parents).

When did it become acceptable to serve God with sloppiness of heart or mind? When did it become permissible to give Him offerings or sacrifices that are not from the best that we can offer? When did He say that His grace covers our cheapened valuation of Him as our King, and that we shouldn’t give it any thought or consideration?

Well, it hasn’t become acceptable. We are to give God the very best that our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls can produce. He is our God, our King, our Savior; He is our Heavenly Father, our Heavenly Brother, our Royal Friend.

God spoke to Malachi (within the context of the Old Testament sacrificial system) about the excellence in service, sacrifice, and offerings that a great King has due to Him. This applies to us today just as much as we consider its truth and application in our New Testament context:

“… ‘When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?’ says the Lord.

‘Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord.

For I am a great king,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and My name is to be feared among the nations.’”

‭( Malachi‬ ‭1:13-14‬ )

Let us give to our God and King the best and greatest of all our excellencies in all things. Let’s ask the Lord today to please show us where we have served Him with excellence, and to show us where we are falling short. He is not interested in our legalistic and rules-based fulfillment of excellence; He longs for, and deeply desires, that we would offer Him excellence simply because we recognize Him as our King, and our heart’s desire is to honor Him as our Great King, the King and Creator of all Space and Time.

Traits of God

A Daily Thought Provoker Quote
from Heart & Path Journal at HeartPathJournal.net
Online Publications of David J. Hall

“In our lifelong relationship with God we will experience the opposing traits of God like mercy vs judgement, peace vs anger, and grace vs finality.

In one season, we may experience our faith-filled prayers being answered and fulfilled (as-in Hebrews 11).

In the next season, we may experience our faith-filled prayers remaining UNanswered and UNfulfilled (also as-in Hebrews 11).

In both seasons, our lessons are not about ethereal and mystical doctrines and theologies. Instead we are learning to walk with God and to be faithful to Him, even as He fulfills His own will and not our own.”

Dungeons & Palaces

A Daily Thought Provoker Quote
from Heart & Path Journal at HeartPathJournal.net

“In Genesis 41 Joseph was a foreigner, falsely accused and imprisoned. He maintained his integrity and his faithfulness in serving God, and through a miraculous sequence of events he was elevated to be 2nd-in-Command of all of Egypt.

God can do the same with your life!

HOWEVER… what if God (in His infinite wisdom and Divine purpose) does not elevate you at all, purposefully leaving you in captivity so you can minister His love, grace, and mercy to your fellow prisoners?

What if He wants you to serve in a dungeon rather than in a palace?”

Asking for Forgiveness

A Daily Thought Provoker Quote
from Heart & Path Journal at HeartPathJournal.net
Online Publications of David J. Hall

“If we expect family and friends to forgive us 70×7 times for the sins and dysfunctions that we perpetrate upon them, then let’s remember that Jesus expects US to verbally ask for that forgiveness EACH of those 70×7 times!

We cannot remain silent AND expect to be forgiven by them. We are expected by Jesus to (1) verbally confess our failure to them EACH TIME, and then to (2) verbally ask for their forgiveness EACH TIME, as many times as we expect their forgiveness.”

Eternity Now

A Daily Thought Provoker Quote
from Heart & Path Journal at HeartPathJournal.net

“As followers of Jesus Christ, our duration on this planet during our natural lifetime isn’t the whole picture of our existence. It’s just one pixel of the high definition, infinitely large picture of our eternal life and exciting existence with God in eternity.

Today’s problems may seem overwhelmingly big, but when we keep the proper perspective on everything and compare those problems with the really big picture of our eternal life… well, we see our problems as they should be seen.

Problems: small.   God: BIG!”

Wilderness

A Daily Thought Provoker Quote
from Heart & Path Journal at HeartPathJournal.net
Online Publications of David J. Hall

“In your walk with Christ, do you feel like your soul is dry and thirsty? Are you wandering in a wilderness with no clear sense of direction or progress

Christ has not forgotten you.

The dry season is His graciously motivating invitation for you to draw near to Him again, to get close enough to hear His heartbeat, to feel His breath, to drink of His living water, and to receive a fresh outpouring of His holy fire upon your heart’s altar.”

“Come near to God and He will come near to you.” ( James‬ ‭4:8‬a )
