The Holy Hulk Anointing

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”

~ Acts 1:8

Our routine daily life is a very prominent part of being a witness for Jesus Christ. How we react to the small things is just as important as how we react to the big problems.

When I was a young boy I had a horrible temper that would manifest in certain situations. At one point, I scared myself when I discovered just what I was capable of doing while in a monster-like rage. After that, I scared myself even more deeply when I realized how far my angry thoughts were going to take me.

As a young boy, I cried out to God for help. I knew that I couldn’t overcome this anger-monster that was within me. This was my giant, my Goliath, that I desperately needed to–wanted to–conquer.

The passion that fueled my temper soon began to fuel my stand for righteousness. My passion wasn’t what was wrong, it was my motivation, my self-centeredness. When I focused my heart on seeking first the Kingdom of God, and on being Christ-centered, my passion then became the fuel for living a holy life.

Was I perfect? No. Am I perfect? No. But I am extremely passionate about God’s Will now instead of being passionate about My Will.

The Holy Spirit has led me in this internal change of my center, my core. He has led me and granted me victory over the anger-monster, this Goliath, for 40+ years now. I don’t have a temper that rages anymore, but I still have a deep reservoir of passion and strength that fuel my zeal for God’s Will.

My reservoir of strength and passion are maintained by the inflow of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. Without Him, I still scare myself when I think of what I can be capable of without His power and His guidance to stay centered on Christ.
