When God’s Daughters are TAKEN

Ladies, if any man threatens you or treats you wrong, cry out to your Heavenly Father. He has said in His Word how He feels about you, His daughters.

Gentlemen, let’s treat the ladies with the utmost respect, and with a healthy awareness (i.e. Fear!) of the skills of her Heavenly Father. Nobody in their right mind should ever presume it to be safe to come between the Heavenly Father and His daughter!

By way of a movie illustration, our Heavenly Father is the original TAKEN Father (played by Liam Neeson, 2008) who turns the world of the Albanian Mafia upside down in search of his daughter who has been taken by them for profit and abuse.

If you think this guy was fearless, a skilled warrior, and relentless in the rescue of his daughter who had been taken, then you don’t even want to think about harming one of God’s daughters. God has no fear, He is a champion warrior, and He is relentless. He will look for you, He will find you, and… yes, He WILL kill you!

In the Book of Exodus, God gave a message that is eerily and frighteningly similar to the message that the TAKEN father states in the movie 5,000 years later:

“Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to Me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you…”

( Exodus 22:22-24 )

The Magic Arts

Astrology, Horoscopes, Fortune Tellers, Tarot Cards…

Would you give your child a scorpion to play with? This spirit-realm is real, a scorpion that will eventually sting and kill whoever plays with it.

Scripture is replete with dire warnings about participating (“innocently” or seriously) in any of the magic arts.

“Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord… You must be blameless before the Lord your God.”‭‭

( Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:10-13 )‬

“When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God?

Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning.”

( Isaiah 8:19-20 )

God is a Champion Warrior

God likens Himself to a champion, a zealous warrior who always triumphs.

“The Lord will march out like a champion, like a warrior He will stir up His zeal; with a shout He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over His enemies.”‭‭

( Isaiah‬ ‭42:13‬ )

This is a description of the God who fights for His glory and His kingdom. As followers of Christ, as adopted children of the King, He fights for us!

Let’s take a step back, drop to our knees in prayer, making room in our lives for the undefeated Warrior-King to wage His victorious war against all enemies, on earth and in the heavens.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

( Ephesians‬ ‭6:18‬ )

Master of Strategy

Do you ever feel like parts of your life are chess pieces scattered across the chess board, in utter chaos? Maybe the chaos is due to your own mismanagement of those pieces, or it is a condition that “came out of nowhere” and you are stuck.

Don’t be afraid, God is on the scene. Give all of the pieces of your life over to Him, because He is The Master of Strategy. Whether the chaos is your fault, or the devil’s fault, or no one is at fault, God is pleased to receive all of the pieces of your chaotic life so that He can transform it.

The story of Joseph (starts in Genesis 37) is a powerful reminder of how God will take what was meant to destroy you, and turn it into something that He can use for His glory and for blessing you.

Trust in God. Trust in the ultimate chess strategist in the entire universe. He ALWAYS wins when He is given ALL the pieces of a chaotic life!

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts… so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

( Isaiah 55:8-11 )

Flourish in Any Trial

What kind of environment do you find yourself living in? Is it overwhelming at times due to strained relationships with loved ones, or chronic health issues that induce pain and isolation, or a financial drought where expenses are increasing through no fault of your own, or your place of ministry has become a desert instead of the oasis it used to be for you?

Trials of these kinds are common, very common, but pointing that out doesn’t take the pain away, does it? No, but we can’t live life by allowing pain of some kind to be our navigator or captain. We must endure, persevere, and be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”

( James 1:12 )

The greatest fears during trials are not just related to pain (physical, emotional, mental), but include anxiety of losing the ability to flourish in life.

My friend, as a child of God who has committed your life to Him for all of eternity, He knows how to take care of you in this world. Your trials of today, though the enemy designed them for maximum destructive power in your life, will not result in your destruction.

God is active and present on the scene, and He will make use of these same trials to prune some branches in your heart and soul. Pruned trees make for fruitful trees… very fruitful trees!

Persevere. Endure. Collaborate with God in accordance with the scriptures, His Word. And, in the midst of the fiery trials always remember to cultivate the joy of your salvation.

“But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your loving kindness in the morning, for You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress.”‭‭

( Psalms‬ ‭59:16‬ )
